I grew up on an island in New Port Richey, FL. My parent's dock was on a bayou that is currently popular with a number of fishing guides for redfish and snook. It's where I currently keep my 16 foot flats skiff. I grew up fishing, but didn't get out much in college and law school. After practicing law for about 4 to 5 years, I was able to slow and incorporate fishing back into my routine. I enjoyed being able to buy the gear I'd always wanted, but always knew it was never about the rod...

Like the title says I finally got a real micro.  After fishing in cmusics (prevously Southbounds) Mud minnow I wanted one for myself.  After an couple week search there was none to be found.  Then a few days ago my buddy cmusic said his niehbors father had a sundowner explorer (cross between Gheenoe and Mud minnow)..... so off we went to look at it.  It took me all of  2 minutes to decide I wanted it. 

On first glance it looks to be in pretty good shape but sundowner was apparently a poor...

It is time to bring it back! The Super Lure is going to be resurrected on November 11, 2017 at the Salty Shamrock Gastro Grille in Apollo Beach. There will updates in the coming weeks and it will be important to follow this thread as well as the Facebook event page for important information. I hope we get a great turnout and everyone has fun. This 1987, 13' Gheenoe has been the singular best investment in recreation in my family. My younger brother bought it 30 years ago, but now it needs some attention. Originally, the primary mission of this boat had been fishing a small farm pond, but lately it has been for short-range crappie fishing on a big lake and some duck hunting and deer hunting trips, too....

Looking for some feedback on my next skiff for south texas area (POC and south). Draft is the number 1 concern for me...I am not worried about "ride" or "wetness" as these sometimes turn into, as much as needing the boat to get me back and forth through some very hairy, shallow areas, stretching for miles whether running or being able to get back up.

At the same time, I am not looking for a true microskiff with a tiller, but prefer a center console boat that could fish 3 if...

Might be me, but is there a higher turnover on newer skiffs lately? I understand people wanting to upgrade larger / smaller etc, but why so many that are 1 owner and 2 years or less old and some look to have never been used. Maybe it just seems surprising to me because I don't venture into the classified section a whole lot anymore.
Ideas/Opinions?

My father and I built a flats skiff a few years ago. While we enjoy that boat, he recently returned from a family home in St. Michael's, MD with an old Evinrude 9.9 HP outboard. The engine runs great. When my father asked what I thought he should do with the engine, I suggested he put it on a Gheenoe. I found and bought a 15' 4" Gheenoe for him. The 9.9 HP works very well on this boat. With both of us aboard, we averaged 18 MPH. Here are my questions.

A cautionary tale~

A month ago I was getting ready for a family trip to Pensacola to watch the Blue Angels and while cleaning the skiff up I noticed the bilge through hull was just barely flowing when I filled up the bilge area. I looked closer and noticed a small piece of leader sticking out. Took the bilge apart at mounting bracket and it was all plugged up with debris. Cleaned it up and it was good to go.

Fast forward a week later, we are coming home with another thousand boats and...

I am discusted with the new politically correct ness.Anyone not aware here in Florida they're taking down a statue of an Confederate officer that's in front of a local courthouse and moving it to a cemetery. What are they replacing it with the statue of a manatee that recently died in said county.Every commissioner in that county should be ashamed of themselves enough is enough. I personally live in Lee county which is named after Robert E Lee a Confederate general and they have tried on...
