Likes? Dislikes? I have the chance to buy a new one. The deal is way too good to pass up so I'm ditching my German SUV before the resale value tanks.

I should probably put the skiff on a scale but if I had to guess I would say Boat/motor/trailer are in the 1200 pound range. Typical trip for is us 100 miles each way on flat Louisiana roads.

I've never posted a build but this is worthy of the time it takes to write it up. This is not my first boat project, its always been a hobby, quality time in the garage with my family, so when I had this chance to buy my first Hell's Bay skiff I took the chance and invested. New to the group, I live in SWFL and I want to build the least expensive Microskiff I can. A few ideas I had were to buy a cheap gheenoe and modify it to fit my needs.

Some of my other more "Creative Ideas" were to modify a Sunfish Hull as seen below, however a sunfish hull won't plane and will only plow through water and I worry about its ability to make it through chop.

Comfy driving position?

I currently have a silver king flash side console with full back seats and it still gets uncomfortable since I still have to bend forward to drive. I was thinking of changing my current set up to a driver friendly position so I can actually sit back while driving. Maybe tilt steering, seat slide, or possibly taller console. How are your driving positions?

God help me but I just lost 3-4 ft off of a new 12 Weight fly line (do not ask how as it's humiliation enough to ask for help:mad:). I have used the three nail knots before on the tip section of the fly line but the line is 2 thick to use with my nail knot tool. How bout a braided loop connection??

Hey ya'll been on this forum forever never really posted, moving back to Miami this week from Puerto Rico but have been out here in Wyoming fishing for the last few months. Been doing a lot of dry fly fishing out here and its so different from the techniques we use in SoFla/the caribbean....would love to talk to any of you serous fly guys about possibly doing up a few dry fly crab imitations, think there are some applications where it could be deadly on Miami tarpon. A cautionary tale~

A month ago I was getting ready for a family trip to Pensacola to watch the Blue Angels and while cleaning the skiff up I noticed the bilge through hull was just barely flowing when I filled up the bilge area. I looked closer and noticed a small piece of leader sticking out. Took the bilge apart at mounting bracket and it was all plugged up with debris. Cleaned it up and it was good to go.

Fast forward a week later, we are coming home with another thousand boats and...

Refinishing/restoring graphite push pole

I know some of you still use those G Loomis graphite push poles. By now most of them are faded looking and need to be resealed with some type of lacquer, and possibly some sanding?

That's why I am here today to ask you the proper steps in refinishing a 21' graphite G loomis push pole. What kind of lacquer? Should it be sanded before hand? If so what grit? It looks exactly like every other graphite g loomis push pole I've seen. Just very faded looking. I'd like to bring it back to life....

Been looking at skiffs on this forum and waiting to buy one for at least 1.5 years. Bouncing back and forth between new builds, buying a used skiff etc. Thanks to some forum members for taking me out on their skiffs in last couple of weeks to help with the decision process. Super stoked on where I landed!

This skiff was originally built by FMH (see cool build thread here) and I purchased from forum member...
