Micro Offshore Skiff

Kind of different than most boats discussed on here, but I was wondering if anyone else would have any interest in a boat like this...

Basically, I want a boat that I can run 5-50 miles offshore for bottom fishing and tuna fishing, but I don't want to spend a lot of bills on the boat, nor a lot of bills on the fuel. IMHO most of the used boats on the market are not fuel-efficient. Because they were once a new boat, and a guy spending $100k on a new boat, doesn't care about saving $20 in...

I couldn’t stand it any longer, I had to try for it myself... so I bought the plans for the Conchfish, downloaded them to my iPad just over a week ago.

My intention is to stay fairly close to the original design, build as light as I can with no floor and probably no hatches, if only to keep things as simple as I can during the build process. I’m thinking F25 Yamaha, poling platform and a small side mounted grab bar, hoping for a ridiculously light pole only skiff.

I have never built...

Please, not another Conchfish build!

7wt Method/Igniter help!

Looking for feedback from 7wt method/Igniter users. I have a blank on the way and trying to decide on the guide setup to go with. Sage calls for a size 12 stripping guide which is what the factory rod uses. I've always been a fan of larger stripping guides to clear line and feel a 12 is a bit constrictive for a saltwater rod. Have any of you guys noticed an issue with your factory rods choking or catching at the stripping guide?

Quiver of rods

How many of you guys keep a quiver of the same rods in every size needed, or am I just ocd, would there be any benefit to mixing n matching rod brands for different uses? I tend to use a motive 8wt which is my favorite rod to throw, but had a predator in 6, 10,12 so I just ordered an 8wt to round it out because of ocd. now to get the 10 and 12 motives.

Hi everyone, it’s been a few years since I’ve been on, I’ve been busy fishing. Lol
I run a Eastcape Lostman scooter w/Etech 60. Never had a issues till January and had to rebuild carb and a few other things, then last month lower unit went out. Insurance is covering lower unit. Thinking about going to a F70.
My skiff never ran faster than 29 mph. I raise the motor and installed Bobs low water pickup and had to close the vent in the tunnel and lost 3 mph so I’m running 26 now. I’d like to...

I could use some help from the brain trust, heres the scenario-
Migratory fish (avg 60lb +\-)
Dirty brown water
Aggressively Feeding on big schools of adult mullet in 2-6’ depths.

Anyone have a pattern/color that seems to produce or crack the code for these scenarios? I’m striking out with standard and fairly large size baitfish patterns all I can think of is to keep going bigger. I can hardly get a strike out of these fish. I’ve stepped up leader length and stepped down leader diameter,...

Mother ship exploration

During a recent google earth study I found something that I’m sure many are familiar with but few, if any have fished. Cay Sal Bank looks like a lot of fun water to explore and likely fishy as hell. Definitely a mother ship expedition, but I’m wondering if anyone has experience here on the long rod, or might be interested in coordinating a couple yachts and a number of skiffs to take a look.
