Do you think this hull and trailer are worth $2K?

Do you think this hull and trailer are worth $2K? If not what do you think a fair price would be?

It is a 16' 1983 Sea Squirt in reasonable condition, the trailer is in good condition and all the lights work.

The motor just took a dump, looks like something came loose and went into the bottom cylinder and beat the crap out of the piston and head. it would be about $900.00 just to replace the power head and I'm not sure I'd get my money back out of it....

Mosquito Lagoon IRL water experiment

Mods please leave this on the general page for max exposure. It is indirectly boating related since we need a place to fish.

Looking for volunteers to take water samples both from clean ocean water, as well as from parts of the lagoon affected by the bloom.

The idea is to prove that clean water exchange in sufficient amounts will reduce the amount of algae and nutrients feeding the bloom. We need to figure out the dilution rate needed to allow light to pass through to the sea grass

What is your go to lure for sightcasting to reds?

I have a trip planned next week to the Texas coast. Usually I would be flyfishing, but my friend has never cast a fly rod before. We plan on poling the flats and sightcasting to reds with conventional gear.
What are your favorite lures for sightcasting to redfish on a spin casting rod?

Trolling motor size on BT/HB

So about to pull the trigger on either a 12v or 24v Motor Guide xi5 for the BT. Being up in North Florida we do have some strong currents, but most of my fishing is up in the creeks or the lagoon south of me.

Question is anyone with an older BT or waterman/HB running a 12v system in Jax? I used to have a 12v 55lb Minn Kota (junk hand steer) and it did fine with the current. Slower obviously than a 24v when the currents really ripping, but with a lighter boat in thinking the 12v will be...

Just sold my center console bay boat, and looking to join the micro skiff club. Being that I live in South Carolina (Myrtle Beach area) I am looking at the Mini Rip skiff. I am thinking of buying local and they are built in Mt. Pleasant SC. I need a small enough skiff to fit in my 18' deep garage. I mainly fly fish the back waters etc. and like to to get into skinny waters. I could never get skinny enough with my bay boat. I don't need a high horsepower outboard, 15 to 20 hp would be find....

Buying a used skiff...

I found a used skiff on this website that I plan on buying. The owner is nice enough to transport the skiff several hundred miles and meet me halfway between Texas and Georgia. I want to check out the skiff before finalizing the payment. What is the best way to make the purchase? I would rather not drive around with a bag full of cash. The owner would rather not accept a cashiers check. A wire transfer on that same day would be the best option, but I am not sure if this is possible on a...

1) getting the leader right 2) large mouth setup

For standard shallow red fishing, when using a tapered leader like RIO Redfish, i've been tying on a 18 inch tippet of Seaguar 20# fluoro when the leader gets to about 8 ft so that i dont have to replace it as often. FYI, the seaguar 20# is very thin compared to the leader and other 20# fluoros ive used in the past. Would anyone advise against this? based on recent practicing, with heavier flies, like dumbbells, im tending to turn the fly over too fast/much at the end of the cast,...

Good times fishing out of my old Waterman in Matagorda and other video from the Pro.
I hope the link works. First time to try to post video here.
Also some scenic boat rides from Baffin Bay, Corpus Christi Bay, and I think Chocolate Bay from earlier this year. If this works and some of you people like it I will post more video reports. I had to chose a public share icloud option.

Here's a link to a picture album of items I have for sale. I prefer local pickup on all of these items and will not ship the Riptide or casting platform as they're too large. The Riptide is heavily used but works. The head wobbles on it and the speed control switch needs to be replaced, and the clutch you use to adjust the tilt position needs replacing, it just has a bolt to keep it in place for now. I imagine these issues can be fairly easily solved. I am asking 75 bucks for it, it has a 36...

I've got a 2011 Sundance FX 17 with a 4 stroke Yamaha T60 high thrust motor, when I bought the boat it had a 3 blade aluminum pretty beat prop on it, the only thing I see stamped on it is 16-x. Now forgive as Im slight ignorant when it comes to props. Right now I'm running about 33.8 mph at 5800 rpm give or take a few. Im currently in the process of installing a Micro Jacker jack plate and the sales guy said I should look at switching to a 4 blade stainless prop, figured Id ask here first...

I've come across a 2002 HPX Tunnel that's for sale in Galveston TX.

1) Any idea how well the HPX tunnel is suited for upper Texas coast? Obviously I'll wet test it, but curious if anyone has more extensive experience in Galveston area with this type of boat.

2) Is an older hull like a 2002 going to last a long time if taken care of? Just thinking longer term, is this going to be worth re-powering 5-10 years down the road from the current 2002 Yam 2 stroke? Are Yam 2 strokes solid motors?

Whats everyone been tying?

Electronics on grab bar

Well, being new to the entirety of boating i am trying to figure out how some people execute certain rigging. I am wanting to mount a grab bar to the floor of my waterman 16 and run a GPS and my trim tab controls up there as well. How can i do this and keep the wiring hidden? or is that possible at all. I am not 100% sure where i am wanting the grab bar, if i mount it half on the gunnel half on the floor that will be no problem, but if i try to center it on the floor the wires are going to...
